For Eclectic Faith to be the informative and useful site that I envision, I need authors from different religions to contribute. I am a left leaning progressive Christian and most of my post will reflect that point of view. I can write a little bit about other faiths that I have limited experience with, or I can direct readers to other sites that I feel give a good presentation of a different faith, but I can not speak authoritatively about any religion other than my own.
Consequently, your help is needed. I want to gather a team of talented and articulate authors to write and present material that relates to their respective religious persuasions. I need Christians of all flavors (evangelical, emergent, GLBT, etc) as well as representatives of Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, New Age, Gnostic, and any other applicable faith. Divergent schools of thought within these categories is welcomed as well.
I realize that this is a lofty undertaking, but it corresponds with my ideal of religious pluralism and tolerance of religious ideas that are different from my own. I believe that all faiths have the potential of teaching me something of value that I can use or relate to my own religious ideas or practice. I really would like to see this site become such a place where minds of various persuasions can meet and help one another along on our spiritual journey.
Although I will reserve the right to edit post for spelling or grammar errors, and I would like to control the labeling of any post on the site, I will not censure the content as long as it is religious in nature. Also, all content must be free of bigotry, prejudice, and destructive criticisms of other faiths. I am sure other things will need to be addressed as we proceed, but for right now, those are the main things that come to mind that any prospective author needs to know.
If you enjoy writing about your faith and can do so in a manner that is respectful of faith different from your own, then I would love for you to become a companion author on this blog. Please contact me via email. Also, be sure to leave a comment here if you have any suggestions or constructive criticisms about the site, its philosophy, and this endeavor.
